The Sentinel is a weekly magazine that for over a hundred years has provided inspiring articles and verified testimonies of lives transformed and healed.  Through the years since the discovery of Christian Science by Mary Baker Eddy, readers of all faiths have found its pages inspiring, comforting, and healing.

One subscriber defines the Sentinel this way--“A magazine that overflows with inspiring spiritual ideas that comfort and transform lives.”  In keeping with the Reading Room’s theme this year of “Love in all its infinite ways of blessing mankind,” we found this article by Kit Kurtz from Hawaii—“Love Dissolves Cold Symptoms and Sadness” from the May 21, 2018 Sentinel issue, pp. 14-15).

The testifier’s mother had passed on, and Kit was suffering from sadness.  For years she and her mother had invited friends and acquaintances to come to Thanksgiving dinner.  Kit was now on her own to carry on their tradition.  The weekend before Thanksgiving, Kit struggled with cold symptoms.  She worried about whether she could fulfill her role as Reader for the church’s Thanksgiving service and in addition cook Thanksgiving dinner for a very large group of people.

Read here to learn how she prayed and found healing of both the physical challenge and sadness through “a beautiful sense of ever-present Love.”
