The subject of "Unreality" is a blessing that shows what we do not owe allegiance to. Science and Health states: "Everything good or worthy, God made. Whatever is valueless or baneful, He did not make, — hence its unreality." There is no curse on man. There is never a requirement for evil, and understanding this truth brings healing. "Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any."

What are fears made of? The attached article from The Christian Science Sentinel shows how fears are made of nothing. When fear seems to attack as pain and even as possible death, we can reject it as only the belief that God, Love, could be absent or powerless to keep us safe and sound. Click the image for more.

The reality of all existence is that Truth is real, absolute, and infinite. In Christian Science, Truth is a name for God, and Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health (page 207): "The spiritual reality is the scientific fact in all things." "All of God’s creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible."

Whether we are dealing with a rambunctious puppy, caring for a pet who is an old friend, or faced with a wild animal, we can always remember that God has given us dominion over all His creatures. As stated in Genesis, we know that they are all very good! Mrs. Eddy provides the spiritual interpretation of this verse from Genesis in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures on page 514, "All of God’s creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible." To know yourself as God knows you is to give your consent to knowing only your true identity as the creation of Spirit. The world's search for true substance mistakenly looks to material properties to explain it. These material properties are finite and limited, and so the nature of substance is likewise finite and limited. The curses of sin, disease, and death do not belong to God's man. From our Responsive Reading: "Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope." We are often faced with discord in our life. Perhaps we are mired in sin, or feeling the effects of someone else who seems to be sinning against us. Maybe we are experiencing pain or sickness, or are faced with death. How do we pray? Can we really reject the reality of discord when it is so aggressively real to us? The purpose of Jesus' life is not to be worshipped from afar as some untouchable ideal. Science and Health (page 482) says: "Jesus was the highest human concept of the perfect man." The Bible makes plain the fact that God is omniscient. He knows all and thus is divine Mind. So when we pray, we do not pass on information that God does not already possess. Science and Health tells us on page 370, "To be immortal, we must forsake the mortal sense of things, turn from the lie of false belief to Truth, and gather the facts of being from the divine Mind." "O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee."
(Psalm 25:20)

The human mind struggles with the curse of loneliness -- of abandonment and helplessness. The curse is spelled out in the allegory of Adam and Eve. Christian Science teaches that the curse is null and void, and that it can be demonstrated as nothingness through spiritual healing and holiness. Click the image for more.

What qualities do you think of when you hear the word Soul? The prophet Micah mentions justice, mercy, and humility. Soul is a name for God. Soul is also Spirit, so it is not a corporeal being within man's body. Soul, God, expresses itself through man. It is plain that, as the Bible teaches, "We love him, because he first loved us" (I John 4:19). But it does not end there. Man is God's image and likeness, and so through this reflection of all Godlike qualities we love each other. Twice each year the Christian Science church holds a special service when the sermon subject is "Sacrament." It puts special focus on individual consecration to Christ, Truth.
